CREW Detroit and CREW West Michigan are teaming up to present an inaugural joint event for all CREW members and non-member commercial real estate (CRE) professionals. Our two chapters are proud to bring together a diverse group of panelists to discuss Michigan’s economic growth and strategic development plan, as well as future community development initiatives, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) principles and opportunities, attraction/retention challenges and changes to economic policy impacting the CRE industry.

Plan to join a dynamic group of professionals, in participation with officials from around the state, for this robust learning opportunity.

Keynote Speaker:

Tricia Foster, COO, State of Michigan 

Tricia’s daily mission is implementing a business-like approach to managing state government. As the state’s COO, she oversees major initiatives among state agencies. Earlier this year, Tricia was Whitmer’s point person on the state’s distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to local health departments, hospital systems and other medical providers. A longtime friend of Whitmer’s, Foster came to state government from the private sector following a long career in commercial real estate in West Michigan. She spent 23 years at CBRE/Martin and CBRE/Grand Rapids, retiring as the firm’s senior managing director and chief operating officer. Whitmer appointed Tricia the state’s chief operating officer in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic after she had spent a year as director of the Michigan Department of Technology and Management.

Tim Mroz, Senior Vice President of Community Development, The Right Place

Tim Mroz is the is the Senior Vice President of Community Development for The Right Place. In his current role, he leads The Right Place’s place-based strategy and work. Focusing on community development pillars such as smart growth planning, infrastructure & transportation, community leadership & engagement, placemaking, transformational site redevelopment and more; Tim works to ensure Greater Grand Rapids is a region of choice, where people choose to visit, locate, and prosper.


Christine M. Roeder, Senior Vice President of Growth & Development, MEDC

Christine Roeder joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) in 2001 and was recently named the Senior Vice President of Growth and Development. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Retention and Growth. In these leadership roles, she has managed large teams responsible for developing relationships with businesses and communities across the state, as well as overseeing expansion and attraction opportunities. In addition to leading her team, Christine is also responsible for maintaining strong relationships with economic developers appointed to the MEDC Collaborative Development Council, a group of regional economic development leaders.


Maureen Donohue Krauss, President & CEO, Detroit Regional Partnership (DRP)

Maureen Donohue Krauss serves as the President and CEO of the Detroit Regional Partnership (DRP), a leading regional economic development nonprofit serving the Detroit 11-county region. Krauss is an accomplished Economic Development Officer with a demonstrated history of leadership in economic development, non-profit and government; in addition to extensive experience in guiding international companies to successful location decisions and growth in the United States. Prior to her role at the Detroit Regional Partnership, Krauss was elected as the first Chief Economic Development Officer at the Indy Chamber, where she managed Accelerate Indy, a regional economic development plan announced by the Indianapolis Chamber.
