This week’s spotlight is on Dannis Mitchell, Client & Community Engagement, Barton Malow Company.  Dannis is the Co-Chair for CREW Detroit DEI Committee.  With her leadership and dedication,  CREW Detroit DEI committee is dedicated to cultivating meaningful conversations around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion that will expand members’ understanding and appreciation for all people regardless of their gender, race, ability, sexual orientation, religion, age, socio-economic status or educational attainment.

Name the app you can’t live without. Why?
Spotify.  I love good music and podcasts. 

What character trait do you most admire?
Honesty and Loyalty for the tie.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I love to play tennis. I also played both violin and flute. 

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Always be your authentic self. 

What was the biggest thing, business or personal, you accomplished this year? 
I've demonstrated my ability to grow a team, and in doing so, I've been able to improve my leadership and mentoring skills.  I believe that true leaders build people and seek out opportunities to help others  grow.

Who is your favorite Superhero? Why?
My parents are my superheroes. They were my first teachers, created a pathway for me to explore in life and have instilled the values that make me the woman I am today.

Is there a charitable cause you support? If so, what makes them so important to you?
The Children's Center is phenomenal organization that helps families and children with mental and behavioral challenges. The youth inspire me and continuously show that determination can help you achieve anything you want, despite the hurdles and setbacks put in your path.

What is the most important thing we should know about you?
I'm a woman who is continuously evolving, but something that makes me tick is a deep desire for helping those in underserved communities.
