This week’s Spotlight is on Shawn Calvin, IIDA, LEED AP – Director of Interior Design at INFORM Studio. With her dedication and leadership, the Sponsorship Committee offers exposure, marketing, publicity and visibility opportunities within CREW Detroit for sponsor organizations in the local commercial real estate industry. The committee reviews the sponsorship levels and sponsor benefits each year to ensure sponsors are receiving measurable benefits for their sponsorship dollars. Committee members are encouraged to remain engaged with sponsors throughout the year to ensure they are satisfied and would like to continue partnering with CREW. The committee is also responsible for executing the Annual Sponsorship reception.
Why did you join CREW? And how long have you been in CREW?
I joined CREW Detroit to connect/establish relationships with professional women (and men) to expand my network from a business development standpoint in and throughout the industry of the built-environment. I love the diversity in expertise and the varying perspectives that the members of CREW Detroit bring. I have been a member of CREW Detroit since 2018.
How have you been involved in CREW? Committees; Board?
I got involved with volunteering on the golf committee immediately upon joining CREW Detroit. It has been a great way to engage with other CREW Detroit members, learn the committee process, board involvement, yearly budgets, and leadership positions within committees and the board. Last year I was the Golf Committee Sponsorship Liaison and that turned into a Chair position for the Sponsorship Committee. Going through the sponsorship process has been a fantastic opportunity to learn the ins-and outs of fundraising to run a non-profit organization.
What advice would you give a new Member?
Get involved in a committee early and engage often! The more you put into your CREW Detroit Membership, the more you will get out of it personally and professionally.
