This week’s Spotlight is on Anne Polakowski, Environmental Scientist for G2 Consulting Group, LLC. Anne also serves as a Co-chair for CREW Detroit’s Golf Committee. Through her leadership, the CREW golf outing is known for being one of the premier golf outings in our region.  The mission of the Golf Committee is to connect the commercial real estate industry through the game of golf. The committee offers participants, sponsors and volunteers a high caliber event, while promoting networking and increasing the visibility of the CREW Detroit brand to non-CREW Detroit members.

Why did you join CREW? And how long have you been in CREW?
I joined CREW to expand my CRE network, learn more about the different areas of the CRE industry, and develop my professional and leadership skills. I have been learning continuously as a result of my CREW membership for the past 4 years!

What advice would you give a new Member?
Dive in head first! Go to as many events you can and join a committee! Along with meeting new people, this teach you the way the organization is run, showing what ideas and skills you can bring to the table!

Why is CREW important to you? To your company?
CREW is a fantastic organization that works to bolster professional and personal development opportunities specifically for women, giving me more confidence as a young woman in this industry.

What has CREW done for you? Personally and Professionally?
My experience with CREW and its members has taught me a great deal about the kind of professional I strive to be, and how to effectively get myself to that point. I have met so many fantastic people through CREW who I consider long-term mentors and friends!

Things I wish I had known to elevate my professional career:
Get involved in any way you can, make real connections with people whenever possible, and never be afraid to ask for help!

How have you been involved in CREW? Committees; Board?
I have been actively involved with the Golf Committee since I joined CREW, and recently assumed the Co-chair leadership position.

Who was your CREW Sponsor and how did they impact your experience within CREW?
Amy Schneider was my CREW Sponsor and she was so fantastic and showing me the ropes. As someone who had been a very active member for years, Amy immediately taught me how truly valuable it is to get involved with committees and attend events whenever possible.

How would you describe your leadership style and/or key attributes of your professional strengths?
I love collaborative efforts, empowering my colleagues and helping people grow as individuals so that we can get things done, but better than ever before!
