Mentorship Program

CREW Detroit is dedicated to assisting women in the business of commercial real estate by providing experienced mentors who can share industry knowledge and professional guidance. The Mentorship 2.0 Program, offered through the Leadership & Mentoring Committee, pairs up mentors and mentees, uses a guide book prepared by CREW Network, and provides multiple events to assist with your partnership.

CREW Detroit is proud to offer this free benefit to its members and believes the 10-month program will help participants unlock their potential! 

Goals of CREW Detroit Mentorship 2.0:

  • Promote, educate and support the talented members of CREW who exhibit interest in expanding their professional development.
  • Provide career enhancement through increased self-awareness and improved communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Enhance leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Provide a forum to exchange ideas and to foster greater understanding/appreciation for different organizational divisions/groups.
  • Motivate and engage participants to achieve their highest potential, resulting in increased job performance and satisfaction.


Why Mentor?
We are very fortunate to have one of the largest and most diverse networks among Commercial Real Estate Professionals, and we believe we should realize its full potential.  As a mentor, you have an opportunity to serve and give back to your industry. We all have unique skills and experiences, many of which are immeasurable value to our members.  You’re also able to increase your communication and listening skills, while further developing yourself as a leader.

Expectations of Mentors:

  • Provide ideas for resources and learning opportunities.
  • Act as a sounding board – listen and ask probing questions.
  • Provide feedback regarding career (as desired and as appropriate).
  • Encourage candor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Share expertise and experience.
  • Provide support and flexibility during the process.
  • Share responsibility to ensure the program meets expectations and that a mutually open/trusting relationship is maintained.


Qualifications of Mentors:

  • Be an Active Member of CREW Detroit (3 year minimum encouraged).
  • Agree to meet at least one hour per month with your mentee (bi-monthly is suggested).

Our CREW Detroit network is one of the most important assets in our career. We would like to help you grow your network while developing meaningful relationships.

Expectations of Mentees:

  • Establish goals.
  • Ask and answer probing questions.
  • Initiate and coordinate discussions and meetings with your mentor.
  • Solicit guidance on specific topics or skills.
  • Seek feedback on strengths and areas for development.
  • Reflect upon new ideas and enact on helpful advice.
  • Share responsibility to ensure the program meets expectations and that a mutually open/trusting relationship is maintained.


Qualifications of Mentees:

  • Be a Current Member of CREW Detroit.
  • Agree to meet at least one hour per month with your mentee (bi-monthly is suggested).


Program Dates/Events:

  • January 27: Registration Deadline
  • February 10: Kickoff Event to meet Mentorship Partner
  • May: Short informative program and breakout time with Partner (may be virtual)
  • July: Networking Happy Hour Event
  • September: Short informative program and breakout time with Partner (may be virtual)
  • November: Wrap-Up/Networking Happy Hour Event


How do I join the program?
Fill out one of the Profile Registrations using the Links below (Mentor or Mentee) and Submit by January 27, 2023. The 10-month program will begin at the Kickoff event, where you will meet your mentorship partner for the year.
 

The 2023 CREW Detroit Mentorship class has been closed for new applicants at this time. 
Please watch our website for future information on when the 2025 class registration will open.
