Why did you join CREW? And how long have you been in CREW? I wanted to invest in myself, network more, learn from our industry partners and grow my leadership skill set based on programs CREW offers. I also saw others having a lot of success in the group. This is my second year involved with CREW Detroit.

Why is CREW important to you? To Your Company?  It gives me great opportunity to diversify my knowledge base, market potential and personal relationships in our community and beyond. One of Haworth’s core values is continuous learning and giving members access to great organizations that benefit their members professionally and personally is important corporately.

What has CREW done for you? Personally and Professionally?  Personally, I enjoy being a part of a team so being on the committee for Programs has been fun and I can proudly say, I have some new friends. Professionally, I have gained insight from many of the programs offered as well as new opportunities that are a direct result from networking.

Why should people within the CRE industry join CREW?  I believe there is a lot of possibility for a wide variety of people wanting to join CREW. There really is something for everyone that can benefit them personally and professionally. As a women, it is helpful to gain others insights, mentorship and advice and proves to be a very valuable resource in our world today.

3 things I wish I had known to elevate my professional career

  1. That I would have to go to bat to get a raise; I would not automatically be up for review. I wish I knew that a lot sooner!!!!
  2. That the path to leadership is not always up, sometimes its moving laterally to gain more knowledge can make you a more desirable candidate.
  3. It’s okay to say No. It took one of my bosses when I was about 30 to tell me this and give me my power back. I was killing myself trying to please everyone all the time.

How have you been involved with CREW? Committees; Board? I was a sit-in last year on the Programs Committee, this year Co-Chair, and Chair-in-training for 2020

Who was your CREW Sponsor?  Heather Greene

What is your favorite quote? “The days are long but the years are short.”

Before you know it, a lot of my life will be in the rear view mirror. So what I am filling my life with better matter, be fulfilling and give back to others.
