Leadership Spotlight: Danielle Graceffa – Board Liaison, Golf

2019 Leadership Spotlight Series

Danielle Graceffa is Board Liaison of the CREW Detroit Golf committee as well as Assistant General Counsel at Capital Impact Partners.  Danielle believes that early engagement and joining a committee as a new CREW Detroit member is the best way to set yourself up for professional success with the organization. As Board Liaison to the Golf committee, Danielle challenges her committee to raise the bar year after year for the golf outing and deliver a spectacular and sell-out event annually. The committee does an excellent job maintaining the appeal of the outing within the commercial real estate industry and it has been touted to be the “gold standard” that other industry organizations achieve to reach when they plan the organization’s outings!

Why did you join CREW? And how long have you been in CREW?
I honestly cannot remember which year I jointed CREW – I think it was 2011?  At the time I joined CREW I was an associate at a large law firm and I thought CREW would be a good networking organization, and I was right! I wanted to build my connections with other women in the CRE industry in the Detroit market, which I’ve been able to do and I’ve also made some great friends along the way.

Why is CREW important to you? To Your Company?
Initially CREW was a way for me to broaden my network and try to make connections so that I could bring in clients to the firm that I was working at, however I have since left the firm and I work in a company where I do not need to bring in clients, so it’s not that CREW is important to my company in the sense of more business, but it has been a way for me to promote my company and to help others within the Detroit CRE community understand what Capital Impact Partners does and what we are bringing to the Detroit market.  CREW is also important to me because of the friendships that I have formed over the years.

Why should people within the CRE industry join CREW?
CREW provides a lot of member benefits from professional development to networking, etc. and CREW provides opportunities to give back to the community in various ways.

What advice would you give a new Member?
Join a committee! Joining a committee is the best way to get involved and to get the most benefit from your membership. I joined the golf committee when I first joined CREW and now I am the board liaison for golf. I didn’t know a thing about golf but I figured I could learn and knew I was good at organization.  I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’ve enjoyed every year on the committee and we put on a great event every year.  We are now expanding with the addition of the Swing & Sip event in 2017 and we have much bigger plans for the future.

What is your favorite quote?
“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” Ruth Bader Ginsburg
