Annette Popiel-Hammerle is Board Liaison to CREW Detroit’s Professional Development Committee and Director of Business Development for American Interiors. Annette guides the Professional Development Committee through its core purpose: to create and host programs from which members can derive professional growth and development; to promote networking opportunities; and to provide opportunities for members to expand their personal and professional resources.

Why is CREW important to you? To your company?
I value being part of an organization that promotes Women. CREW is an organization strives to make a difference in the Real Estate market by lifting its members, providing learning, leadership and the opportunity to meet members and leaders from all parts of North America and the UK.
For American Interiors and ELEVATE, it is great to have active and involved members in this organization. We work with other members to bring opportunities to fruition together and create a trusted deliverable for our joint clients.
What has CREW done for you?
Personally and Professionally? Personally, CREW has given me Leadership skills. CREW has helped me grow in my career and having the confidence to forge ahead and take risks such as my career change in 2017 which was the best move I could have ever made. Friendships with my CREW Peers that have made me a better person. Professionally, CREW has given me the opportunity to ask for business with members, as well as confidently working with other Members to chase business.
Why should people within the CRE industry join CREW?
We are the leader in networking organizations who provide top level programs, leadership opportunities and a backing of members who promote doing business with other business members.
Can you share a #crewsuccess story? Job Opportunity?
American Interiors. I knew some of the folks here socially and competitively, and knew of Knoll’s Lisa Lembke, she was fantastic. I knew AI valued their people and were respected for their ownership, Steve Essig by clients and vendors. To consider working for this organization from my social relationships and respect of Lisa, our vendor partner, it was a great decision.

What advice would you give a new Member?
Get involved. If you don’t get involved, you are wasting your membership. People want to do business with Members who they serve with and develop a relationship and trust with. The more you give, the more you receive. Did I mention, GET INVOLVED!
