Joan Cleland, a CREW Detroit Past President and former CREW Network board member is co-chairing this year’s 2017 Michigan Women’s Golf Summit on April 22nd at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Joan, an avid golfer, is an active member of three women’s golf associations in metropolitan Detroit and in the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM), all of which are sponsoring the Women’s Golf Summit. She was a charter member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association in Metro Detroit, a business networking organization that targets professional women who are looking to add golf to their business networking toolbox. Since that time her passion for golf and its benefits have led her to leadership roles in the Michigan Women’s Golf Association (MWGA) and membership in the Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association (WMGA) and GAM.
She credits a lot of her success in business to the game of golf, including gaining confidence in a primarily male sport; a sport like no other where business networking is not only welcome, but encouraged! Learning the game can be intimidating for the beginner and that is why this year’s Women’s Golf Summit has been designed to include breakout sessions on: How to Get Started Playing the Game of Golf, Skill & Rules Clinics, How to Play with Confidence in your Company or Charity Golf Outing, and Golf as a Business Networking Tool. The day also includes a continental breakfast, plated luncheon, keynote luncheon speech by Debbie O’Connell, LPGA professional, on “Teeing it up for Success”, a panel discussion titled “Golf a Game of All Generations”, and lots of vendors.
According to Joan, “I can’t think of a better way for CREW Detroit members to prepare for, and get energized to play in this year’s CREW Detroit Golf Outing at Fox Hills than to register for and attend the 2017 Michigan Women’s Golf Summit”.
