With the unofficial arrival of fall, I’m sure I’m not alone when thinking how fast this year has whizzed by! The change of seasons caused me to pause and reflect on what CREW has accomplished thus far in 2014. I am overwhelmed with pride and respect for all that we have achieved to date.
The accomplishments listed below are impressive! Due to space limitations, the following synopsis, though incomplete, clearly reflects the fact that the strength of the organization lies in its committees and the cadre of members who work with tireless dedication to make this the quality organization it is.
A few highlights . . .
COMMUNICATIONS: This committee has increased our PR print exposure considerably, grown our social media presence, tweaked our website monthafter-month in response to member suggestions, and produced a widely read, frequently complimented monthly eNEWS.
GOLF: This committee produced a wildly successful Golf Outing in June attended by 213 golfers. Our Golf Outing continues to grow in prominence, in golfers, in sponsors, in profitability—no easy feat!
IMPACT AWARDS: The Impact Awards will be held in Detroit at the Westin Book Cadillac on September 17th and is SOLD OUT! The awards presentation luncheon was moved from Oakland Hills due to its space limitations and—three weeks prior to the event—registrations have already exceeded the larger capacity! This impressively well-orchestrated event continues to grow in stature, in submissions, in participation.
MEMBERSHIP: This committee created/presented/solidified/grew CREW XChange and member response has been truly notable. In addition, they made Mix, Mingle & CREW, CREW + You, and Next Level Networking highly anticipated events known for their energy, ideas, and collegiality. The number of new members is a testament to the success of their efforts!
OUTREACH: Continuing the well-established tradition of CREW Careers, this committee added schools and doubled the student participation. They intend to add UCREW to their calendar next year. Community volunteer activities included Life Remodeled in August and Gleaners Food Bank the afternoon of September 12th.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: This committee, formed last year, created a Professional Development series that kicked off this year with the inaugural group. This series is available to members and sponsor companies of CREW Detroit.
PROGRAMS: This year’s programs have been phenomenal with a blend of impressive speakers and panels as well as a social aspect allowing attendees to network with one another. The most recent event Women Run the City at the Scarab Club in Detroit was one of my favorites. The programs committee arranged for women from the City Council, the Mayor’s office, DEGC, the
Detroit Building Authority and many more VIPs to attend and network with CREW Detroit.
SPONSORSHIP: This committee, critically important to the success of our organization, had another successful campaign. This committee helps fund member benefits such as the four scholarships designed to defray the cost of attending the CREW Network Convention later this fall in Miami.
MEMBERS: If you are ready to become more involved with CREW Detroit via committee participation, please contact me and I’ll be happy to introduce you to a committee. I look forward to hearing from you.
